Pop Pop's Cabin in the Woods is FInished!!!

Pop Pop finished my cabin in the woods.  I'm so excited about playing there for many years to come!  He bought me my shirt that I'm wearing.  Enjoy the pictures from visiting him.

Mommy's Birthday

Yesterday was Mommy's birthday.  She had to work, so I spent the day with Grandmother Lou, but we met Mommy for lunch.  It was a lot of fun to get so see Mommy during the day.  I am going to go spend the night with Grandmother Lou tonight so Mommy and Daddy can go on a date.  They haven't gone out on a date since I was born, so I'm going to let them have the night off.

I had a really good week.  On Monday night I went to hang out with my cousin Gracen.  Here is us playing in her crib.  I love playing with Gracen.  When we get older we are going to be best buds.  

On Wednesday I went to Gangi & Pop Pop's house.  After my morning nap I played everybody a song on Pop Pop's harmonica.  I'm going to play more instruments when I get older.  Daddy wants to teach me to play the drums after I can sit up by myself.  

Can't wait to tell everybody about my weekend!

Busy Sunday, 9/21

Yesterday Mommy got me out of bed and I had tried to take my nightgown off.  I do not like clothes very much, but Daddy makes me wear them anyway.  

Then Daddy gave me a bath because Mommy ran a 10k race that morning and was pretty tired.

For lunch we went to Grandmother Lou's to eat and see Uncle John. Mommy forgot her camera, so we will have to wait until next time he visits to take pictures. Then we went down to the lake so Pop Pop could show me the cabin he is building for me. He says it is supposed to be finished by the end of this week, but he has been promising this to me for weeks. I can't wait until I get to spend the night in the loft with Pop Pop at the lake.

When we got back to Gangi & Pop Pop's house, Daddy helped me fly. I love it when he lets me fly!

My Week

Sorry that I have written on my blog this week, but I have been really busy with all that is going on Wall Street.  I have been glued to the TV.  Mommy told me the media is making all the old people really nervous!  The market is up now so I have a little time on my hands.

On Sunday, Mommy took me to church in my pretty pink dress that Grandmother Lou made me.

I like my dress, but I would much rather eat it.  

On Tuesday after my nap, my mommy heard me screaming, so she checked on me and look what I had done!  

That's right!  I rolled over from my back to my tummy!!  I only do this trick when no one is watching, so my mommy still hasn't seen it yet.  

Tonight my daddy is having his CD release show for his new album.  He plays his drums too loud for my ears, so I am going to go spend the night with Gangi.  I haven't decided yet whether or not I am going to behave :)

Daddy's Home!!! 9/13/08

Daddy got home from Vegas tonight.  Mommy and I are so excited to have him home!  I really like my daddy a lot.

Daddy fed me while Mommy cooked dinner.  Now that Daddy is home I am happy.  I'm going to play for awhile and then go to bed so I can go to church tomorrow.

Daddy's B-day, 9/12

Today is my daddy's 27th birthday.  He is in Vegas on a work trip, so mommy and I were really sad that we couldn't share his special day with him.  I really miss him and can't wait until he comes home.  But, in his honor, I rolled over today.  Well, sort of.  I rolled over all except my head.  I can't help that there are so many brains in there, so it is too heavy to move!

After all the playing, I took a nap and when we woke up, mommy took me to see my pals, Julia and Charlie Cox.  I really like Julia.  We played on the blanket together.  I am still too little to play with Julia, but we are going to be pals when I am bigger.

Then Charlie woke up.  I was playing in his toy, so he cried which really upset me, so I screamed at the top of my lungs while mommy attempted to calm me down.  Charlie is only a baby  (2 1/2 weeks old), but we will be playing together when he gets a little older ;).   But, Daddy told me we couldn't date until I was 30.  I love going over to mommy's friend Maria's house.  I hope she takes me back soon.

 After my nap, I tried to roll over again, but again, my head was just a little too big.  Don't worry, I will finish rolling over soon!

It's time for bed.  I have to get a good night's sleep because Daddy is coming home tomorrow and I want to be happy when I see him.  I can't wait.

9/10 - Day at Gangi & Pop Pop's House

Today Mommy had to go to work so I went and spent the day with Gangi and Pop Pop.  Gangi thought it was a good time to teach me how to weave.  She taught me my first lesson while we listened to Willie Nelson.  It was a quick lesson because I got worn out - maybe next Wednesday she will teach me more.

Then I took my morning nap and Pop Pop gave me a bottle and now I am fat and happy. Mommy always tells Gangi that I only need to eat every 3-4 hours, but Gangi doesn't listen and I get my way after only 2 1/2 hours.  That is why my 3rd chin is appearing.

Time for my bath.  Daddy is out of town so mommy is pretty tired, so I am going to bed early.

Tuesday, 9/9

Today Mommy had the day off, so we got to play together.  I decided I wanted to sleep in until 9:00 today.  I'm pretty lazy.

Then we went and ate lunch with Daddy at Pei Wei.  He is going to Vegas tomorrow with work, but he is going to win us a lot of money, so mommy can retire.  

Ok, Daddy is home, so I gotta go.  LOL.

Sunday, 9/7

Today was a big day.  Mommy read to me for the first time.  She chose Green Eggs & Ham.  I liked the story, but Mommy sounded really silly reading it to me, so that was my favorite part.  I will be reading soon, but until then I will just let Mommy do it.  

After story time, we went to see Gangi & Pop Pop.  I love to swing with Pop Pop, but he always kisses my head and acts like he is sucking my brains out.  I keep telling him that I need my brain so I can be a CFP like my mom, but he never listens.  

Tomorrow I am going to go hang out with my mommy's mommy and daddy.  I'm really looking forward to it, except I'm going to miss my mommy.

Sept 5, 2008

Mom and I had a lot of fun together today.  She let me sleep all morning and then we played together.  She kept taking my picture and telling me how advanced I was.  Here are some of the pics she took:

Delta Fair - 9/6/08

Today Mom and Dad took me to the Delta Fair.  I got all dressed up with these silly sunglasses because mommy said it was going to be sunny, but she was wrong.  My daddy works at Smith & Nephew and so we got in free today.  I had a lot of fun.  The highlight of my day was when we went to the petting zoo.   There was a pig who had just had piglets, sheep, goats and lots of other animals.  While we were there a goat started sniffing me and mommy told my daddy, "Don't let that goat smell my daughter."  She is pretty picky who she wants smelling me.  After that I daddy and his buddy went on some rides. I'm not big enough yet, so mommy and I sat in the air conditioning. We pretended like we were going to buy some pots & pans so we could sit in the seats.  My mommy is pretty smart.  Then we came home and mommy gave me a bath and now I'm sleeping.  It was a hard day!

My First 11 Weeks

Hi, my name is McKayla Yates Rawlinson.  I was born on 6/19/2008 at 1:50 p.m. to my wonderful parents John and Rebecca Rawlinson.  My daddy came up with my name from the internet and loved it from the start.  My middle name is my great grandmother's maiden name who I have never met, but have heard a lot about.  

I weighed in at 5 pounds, 9 ounces and was 18 1/4 inches long, which my mommy was very thankful for.  

Since my mommy just taught me how to use the computer, I am not going to write much about my first 11 weeks of life, but will from here on out, I promise.  My mommy told me that she wants me to write down what we do, so she could look back on it in the years to come, so here goes the abbreviated version of my life so far.

Week 1:  Mommy had a rough time getting me to eat, so I got pretty small.  I went in to see my doctor and wasdown to 4 pounds 15 ounces.  But, the highlight of my week was Aunt Kelly and Uncle Andrew came to visit.

 Week 2:  I decided that I was going to eat this week.  This time the doctor told me I weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces.  Wow, I am growing fast.  At this rate, I'm going to be a lot taller than my Mommy!

Week 3: I have noticed that Mommy is acting a lot different these days.  Probably because I let her get a little more sleep.

Week 4:  I spent the night with my grandmother this week.  She sent me home in this dress.  I know I look cute and all, but I sure do feel funny.  Maybe I will grow into it soon.

Week 5:  I am continuing to get bigger and bigger.  Mommy is looking a lot better these days.  She even took a shower this morning and put on makeup.

Week 6:  Mommy had to return to work this week.  I was sad at first, but I get to stay with my grandmothers and they give me more attention than she does anyway.  I also decided that I would give mommy a break and sleep 8 hours straight.  She was so proud of me!

Week 9:  Mommy and Daddy took me to get my picture made this morning.  I was smiling for the camera and looking all cute and then you know what they did to me?  They took me back to that doctor that I saw a bunch the first few weeks of my life.  He was really impressed with me and told my mom that I weighed 10 pounds 5 ounces and was 22 inches long.  My mommy almost started crying.  I didn't see what the big deal was.  But then, this big fat scary lady with scrubs on came in and gave me 3 shots.  I thought my mommy and daddy were pretty mean to let that lady do that to me!  But my mommy put a bottle in my mouth and I immediately forgot all about it.

 Week 11:  I did a bunch of new things this week.  First of all I have started sleeping 11 hours at night.  I found that mommy and daddy are a lot more fun to be around when I do that, so I  think I may continue to do this until I start getting my teeth.  I also started bearing weight on my chubby legs and holding onto things.  

The way mommy and daddy acted you would have thought I had talked to them.  They get so excited over the smallest things.
